1. About this policy

TeachMeMedical, Inc. (“TeachMeMedical,” “we,” “us,” “our”) builds AI-powered medical education tools, including TeachMeNow and WisdomTwin. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers teachmemedical.ai and the products and services we offer through it.

When this policy does not apply. Sometimes we handle health information on behalf of a hospital, clinic, health system, or research institution. In those cases we act as that organization’s service provider — under HIPAA, a “business associate.” Our contract with that organization and that organization’s own privacy notice govern how the information is used, not this policy. To exercise rights over information that organization controls, contact the organization directly.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account and contact details — your name, email address, and anything else you enter when you register or contact us.
  • Medical documents you upload — lab results, discharge summaries, imaging reports, visit notes, medication lists, and similar records.
  • Health information you type — symptoms, history, questions, and anything else you enter while using our tools.
  • Communications — messages you send us, including demo and support requests.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device and log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, timestamps, and referring pages.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 8.

Information from organizations

If a healthcare provider, employer, or research study gives you access to our tools, we may receive information about you from that organization under our contract with it.

3. What we do not collect

These are worth stating plainly, because many health products do collect them and we do not.

Camera accessWe do not request or use your device camera, and we do not process photographs or video.
Microphone accessWe do not capture audio. There is no voice recording and no ambient listening.
Location dataWe do not collect GPS or precise location, and we do not use location to tailor what you see.
Payment informationWe do not collect or process card or bank details through the product.
Advertising and cross-site trackingWe do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

4. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our products
  • Generate personalized educational content and explanations from the records you upload
  • Build and update the personal health profile our tools use to tailor explanations to you
  • Answer your questions and provide support
  • Monitor, secure, debug, and improve our services
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms

5. Artificial intelligence and your information

Our products use artificial intelligence, including large language models, to interpret medical documents and generate educational explanations.

  • We do not use your health information to train general-purpose AI models.
  • We use third-party AI providers to process content on our behalf. Our AI processing provider is OpenAI. These providers handle the information under contract and are prohibited from using it to train their own models.

  • AI output can be incomplete or wrong. Our tools provide education, not medical advice. See Section 14.

6. How we share information

We share personal information only as described below. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

  • Service providers. Cloud hosting, storage, AI processing, email, error monitoring, and analytics vendors that work on our behalf under contract. Our primary hosting provider is Google Cloud Platform, in the United States.
  • Healthcare and research organizations. When you reach our tools through a hospital, clinic, or research study, we share information with that organization as our contract with it requires.
  • Legal reasons. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Where information is stored

We store and process information in the United States on Google Cloud Platform. We do not transfer personal data to or from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the service secure, and understand how our site is used.

  • Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in and protect against fraud. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics cookies help us understand how the site is used. [CONFIRM: name your analytics provider, or delete this line if you use none.]
  • We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies in our products.

9. How long we keep information

  • Account information — while your account is active, and up to [CONFIRM: e.g. 12 months] after you close it.
  • Uploaded documents and health information — until you delete them or close your account, whichever comes first. [CONFIRM]
  • Log and security records — [CONFIRM: e.g. 12 months].
  • Information held for a healthcare or research organization — for as long as our contract with that organization requires.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See Section 11.

10. How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to how sensitive this information is. These include encrypting data in transit and at rest, limiting access to people who need it for their work, requiring multi-factor authentication on administrative accounts, and logging access to systems that hold personal information.

Our current security posture — including the controls we have not yet put in place — is published in full on our security page.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your choices and rights

You may ask us to give you access to the personal information we hold about you, correct information that is inaccurate, delete your information, give you a copy in a portable format, or limit or object to certain uses.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, including the right not to be treated differently for exercising them. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may also have the right to appeal a decision we make about a request.

To make a request, email admin@teachmenow.info. We will verify who you are before we act. We respond within the time the applicable law requires, generally 45 days.

If we hold your information on behalf of a healthcare provider or research study, send your request to that organization instead.

12. HIPAA and protected health information

When we handle protected health information for a HIPAA covered entity, we act as a business associate and are bound by a business associate agreement with that entity. In that role we use and disclose protected health information only as that agreement and HIPAA allow.

Information you give us directly, outside a relationship with a covered entity, is generally not protected health information under HIPAA. We still protect it as described in this policy.

13. Children

Our products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. [CONFIRM the age threshold. For a health product, 18 is worth considering.] If you believe a child has given us information, contact admin@teachmenow.info and we will delete it.

14. Our products are not medical advice

TeachMeMedical products provide health education. They do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or replace a licensed clinician. Always talk to a qualified healthcare provider about your care. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and update the “last updated” date above. If the changes are significant, we will give you notice before they take effect. Superseded versions are retained so that you can ask what the policy said on a given date.
